Mobil SHC™ 630 paper manufacturing gear oil success story
Reduced grease consumption by
76%Situation
Asia Kraft Paper Co., Ltd. is a packaging paper manufacturer with two Allimand paper machines. Using a non-Mobil™ gear oil for machine lubrication, the gearbox was experiencing excessive wear as the operating temperature was running up to 70°C. This caused oxidation and the need for an oil change every three months.
Recommendation
The Mobil Lube Engineer analyzed the situation and recommended Mobil SHC™ 630 gear and bearing oil. This recommendation was supported by Mobil ServSM Lubricant Analysis monitoring.
Result
After two and a half years of continuous operation and monitoring, Mobil SHC 630 gear and bearing oil has proven to be an excellent choice. The operating temperature of the gearbox decreased from 70°C to 50°C with no further wear observed on gear teeth. The oil drain interval has also increased from three months to 24 months, thereby improving productivity by reducing unscheduled downtime by up to 18 days. As a result of deploying Mobil SHC 630, the savings on spare parts and labour cost amounted to approximately US $9,500 annually.
